Arcadia’s Farm to School Program works to improve our local food economy and the health and well-being of schoolchildren by helping schools get more local, healthy and sustainable foods into school meals.  Arcadia’s Farm to School Program also provides hands-on opportunities for schoolchildren to connect with their food and where it comes from.

Arcadia’s Farm to School Program has three areas of focus:

Education

We engage schoolchildren in the farm-to-table process through interactive field trips to Arcadia Farm and visits to schools by Arcadia’s Mobile Market.  For information about our Farm to School educational programs, including how to schedule a program,  please visit our Field Trips and Mobile Market Education program pages.

School Meals

We provide training, resources and networking opportunities to connect school food service programs with sources of healthy, local, sustainable food for school meals.

Community Engagement

We work with key decision makers, parents, teachers, and other local stakeholders to make farm to school programs a priority across the region.

We believe that when students learn where their food comes from through experiential food and farm education, they are more likely to consume fresh, healthy foods, and establish healthy and sustainable eating habits that spread to families and communities.  School meals are a major source of nourishment for schoolchildren, so it is imperative that these meals include as much fresh, safe, and healthy food as possible.
