Administrative Manager:

Join Arcadia’s team as the new Administrative Manager. This is a hybrid position (2 days/week in the office, 3 days/week work from home) helping to keep a busy food & agriculture nonprofit on track, on time, and communicating internally with clarity, respect, and enthusiasm. This position is part of the executive team, working closely with the executive director, and supporting all programs as necessary. Lots of room for creativity and growth. Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week. Occasional weekend work with compensatory time off. 

Compensation: $40,000 annually

Arcadia Farm Camp Positions

Farm Camp Manager:

Looking for a way to get outside, work with youth, gain experience in sustainable farming, and be part of a positive, fun, unique community this summer? This might be the job for you! Arcadia seeks a Manager for our Summer Farm Camp. The Manager will be primarily responsible for managing the conduction of the Farm Camp program and supervising a small team of Farm Camp Counselors during five one-week sessions at our working farm on the grounds of Woodlawn, a National Trust Historic Site, in Alexandria, VA. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about working with kids and who enjoys being outdoors in a farm setting. We are focused on supporting our Farm Campers and look for a strong background in working with children and staff in a camp setting. Camp counselor or camp management experience is preferred. Farming or gardening experience is preferred, but not required. This position is perfect for someone with previous summer camp experience who wants to gain valuable skills in management.

Hours: Full time, seasonal for 11 weeks. June 6, 2022 to August 19, 2022.

Compensation: $18 an hour.

Farm Camp Counselors:

Looking for a summer gig where you can work outside, eat fresh veggies on the daily, and be part of a fun, positive, unique community? Consider being a counselor at Arcadia Farm Camp! Counselors will be primarily responsible for supervising an age-specific group of children during five one-week sessions at our working farm on the grounds of Woodlawn, a National Trust Historic Site, in Alexandria, VA. If you enjoy working with children in an outdoor setting and are looking to gain experience in garden education, this is the position for you!

Hours: Full time, seasonal for approximately 7 weeks.July 5, 2022 to August 19, 2022.  

Compensation: $15 an hour

Mobile Market Seasonal Positions

Arcadia is hiring seasonal, part-time market managers and associates.

Arcadia is a small but growing organization, and the right candidate will have the opportunity to grow with us and become an integral part of the Mobile Market program. 

The right candidate will be able to combine a passion for building a strong, local and sustainable food system with the practical skills and experience listed below.   

The Mobile Market season runs mid-May through mid-November 2022. There are eight market locations in total with teams running eight markets each week. Operations run Wednesday through Saturday weekly. Shifts will include a combination of weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays.

Priority will be given to candidates able to commit to at least 15 hours each week.  

Market Managers:  Market Managers will oversee program implementation from market preparation to operation, from personnel management to recordkeeping all while embodying the intentions of the program and setting the tone for the market space. Managers are encouraged to bring their strengths to market, supporting them as community gathering spaces for accessing local farm fresh food, learning, sharing and relationship-building and effectively delegate tasks to meet operational goals.  Managers will have skills in strategic problem-solving, taking initiative, and delegating tasks, be organized and reliable, and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.

Market Associates:  Market Associates are the frontline staff for the market.  Shifts may include inventory and portioning items for sale, loading/unloading deliveries, preparing online orders for customer pick up, and maintaining the kitchen protocols.  Market associates will be responsible for set up and breakdown, restocking items for sale, fielding customers inquiries at market as well as financial transactions (cashier duties).
